Isaiah 60:1

Arise, shine, for your light has come and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.

The people of Jerusalem have gone through so much suffering because of their debaucheries. They have bee n living in the darkness of despair but their light has come. To receive the gift of redemption, they must arise. After arising they are to shine. In other words, if they do not arise, they are not shining.

The same applies in our lives today. We are ordained shining stars but until we arise we can never shine in life. We have big dreams, goals, plans but all these won’t become reality if we do not arise. For how long will you keep giving excuses, for how long will your talent remain dormant, for how long will you continue blaming parents and the government, for how long will your dreams remain futile. Are there no plans of making that dream career a reality, that dream business a reality. Arise!

A dream doesn’t become reality through magic. Arise and pursue your dream. The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step. Every great dream begins with a dreamer. The future of a seed is not ahead of the seed. It is trapped in the seed. You have within you everything to reach for the stars and change the world. You have all that it takes to excel in life. So arise! Your light has come. It’s time to shine!

Sometimes we give excuses as waiting for the right time. You have to seize the time and make it right. Most people are suffering from analysis paralysis. We analyze our ideas to the point of paralysis. We want everything to be so perfect. We are waiting for all the traffic light to turn green before we arise. It doesn’t always work that way. You must get started. Arise! It doesn’t matter where you are coming from. All that matters is where you are going.

Arise and be that musician, doctor, dancer, pastor, first-class student, teacher, businessman, or woman. Arise! Zig Ziglar once said “you don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great. So get started”. Every great person in history got started. You are the head and not the tail. You were created by God almighty for a purpose. You are a masterpiece fashioned in the likeness of Him.

Don’t say you don’t have enough time. You have exactly the same number of hours per day that were given to Helen Keller, Pasteurer, Michelangelo, Mother Teresa, Leonardo da Vinci, Thomas Jefferson and Albert Einstein.

Greatness will only come to you if you run to it. Success is defined by how much action you take and not just by how much knowledge and capabilities you have. Knowledge can be learnt and capability can be acquired. But action is the one resource that you have to unleash within yourself. People who combine knowledge with massive action become unstoppable in achieving any goal.

It’s going to be hard but hard does not mean impossible. You can do goal setting with your pencil but you have to do goal-getting with your legs. Some of us fail to arise because of fear of taking risks, obstacles, and storms we will be encountering. Every great person in history faced unbelievable challenges. Christie Szymanski said “no one gets a free pass from the storms of life. What separates us is how we respond to these disturbances”. Life is 1% what happens to us and 99% what we do about it. Storms should give you an opportunity to be a greater person. It shouldn’t make you give up or relent in the pursuit of your dream. Not taking risks is the biggest risk of all. Matshona Dhilwayo said, ” when all seems to be going against you remember, a ship sails against the current, not with it”. Mary Kay Ash said it all…

When you reach an obstacle, turn it into an opportunity. You have the choice. You can overcome and be a winner or you can allow it to overcome you and be a loser. The choice is all yours and yours alone. Refuse to throw in the towel. Go that extra miles that failures refuse to travel. It is far better to be exhausted from success than to be rested from failure.

What do I say? NATIONS are coming to your LIGHT. KINGS are coming to the BRIGHTNESS of your RISING.                     So arise, shine and live your dreams. If you don’t live your dreams, you will be leaving someone else’s.

ARISE, SHINE! THE WORLD IS WAITING FOR YOU!

There are many animals in the jungle but the lion is identified as the King of the jungle. A bit astonishing. We have the biggest, fastest, tallest, most intelligent, wildest animal in the jungle but the lion was still identified as the king of the jungle. Is there any reason?

The Lion has what I call the “spirit of leadership”. In this case, leadership referring to ” attitude”. A leader has an attitude that makes him or her different from followers.

The Lion is not the heaviest animal in the jungle, it is not the largest animal in the jungle, it is not the most beautiful animal in the jungle, it is not the tallest animal in the jungle. But when the Lion shows up, all the animals take to their heels. What is the difference? A Lion has a different attitude that makes every animal afraid of it.

A Lion is courageous, bold, always ready to face any challenge, any barrier that crosses its path no matter how big or small they are, a lion walks with confidence, dares anything and is never afraid, it is unstoppable, it is a risk-taker, it believes any animal is food for it, it believes any opportunity is worth giving a try and never let it slip from its hand, a lion has charisma.

My dear, to achieve success in life, you don’t need to be the fastest, you don’t need to be the wisest, you don’t need to be the smartest, you don’t need to be the most brilliant, you don’t need to be generally accepted. Some of us think to achieve success in life, we need to acquire all the degrees in the world, we need to acquire all the skills in the world, we need to be highly knowledgeable, we need to acquire all the fame, we need to ride the latest cars and put on latest outfits, we need to earn millions, we need to live a luxurious lifestyle and so on.

This sometimes makes us resort to complacency and spend our whole lives waiting patiently for all these things to happen before we rise to do something, before we make that dream a reality, before that business idea come into fruition. But here’s the unfortunate truth, all these are not required in fact they are not necessary.

All you need is courage, boldness, persistence, determination, self-discipline, commitment, empowering belief system, practise, the will to try, the faith to believe it is possible.
